The Sony Ericsson Aino - Almost a PSP?

The Sony Ericsson Aino has the first of its kind Remote Play that allows you to seamlessly connect to the PS3 gaming a Blu-ray high definition media player over the internet. This enables streaming of your audio and video files from the PS3 anywhere on earth. Initially, Remote Play was intended as an enhancement for the PSP.

Uniquely AINO

The Aino could have been a direct competitor of the PSP by accident. But the PSP has seen better days. As fate would have it, Remote Play now ended on the Aino ' the first ever for a mobile gadget. This further makes the PSP less appealing on its own with the Aino making more sense as a mobile entertainment device with its friendlier control features. Though there's no gaming facility on the Aino, you can enjoy streamed audio and video files from your PS3 anywhere on earth over the Internet. Supported by the fast speeds afforded by the Aino's HSDPA/HSUPA data connectivity, this remote control facility makes even better sense.

More firsts

It doesn't end with the PS3. With DLNA support and MediaGo technologies in the Aino, you can access and interact in real time with any multimedia content in your home or office PC. Whenever you charge the Aino, it can automatically connect to your PC over Wi-Fi and the MediaGo tool installed on your PC lets the Aino learn what you have stored on the PC. Once done, you can access your PC content anywhere on earth over the Internet.

The Aino is the first Sony Ericsson mobile phone to shed off its proprietary memory stick slot and use the more popular and affordable microSD memory expansion slot.  This is certainly a welcome development for both fans and would-be users alike.

The usual

  • This is basically a Quad band GSM/GPRS/EDGE with HSUPA and HSPDA support.
  • It sports a brilliant 3' LCD WQVGA screen with support for 16million colors capacitive touchscreen in the media mode.
  • It has built-in accelerometer sensor for automatic portrait and landscape modes when you tilt the handset accordingly
  • It sports an 8 megapixel autofocus camera with LED flash, red-eye reduction Image and video stabilization and face/smile recognition.
  • It has stereo FM radio with RDS.
  • It comes in 2 Colors:  Obsidian Black and Luminous White
  • It uses a 1000mH battery delivering a remarkable 13hrs talk time and 30 hours of media listening.

The Sony Ericsson Aino is definitely another full-featured and trendy multimedia smartphone to beat. This is almost a PSP with a phone.   Nokia, watch out.
